I think you hate SF State, but I think you might like college more if you went somewhere else. Perhaps you should consider transferring, maybe after your sophomore year.
And I'm sorry to hear about your Grandfather. This podcast is for whatever you want it to be, so no, it's not out of bounds at all if you feel compelled to share personal information. Your family is in my prayers.
