Starfox's Nose Color Changes, Netizen Demands Nintendo Answers

Starfox's nose color changes between brown and black between SF:Adventures and SF:Assault. Nintendo offers NO explanation for this obvious character change. This site is...hilarious if nothing else.

Guys, this is a SERIOUS issue! WE DEMAND AN ANSWER! WHY IS HIS NOSE CHANGING COLOR?!

Mirrormask

Mirrormask

Woah.

What was that?

Was that a movie?

Or was that drawings brought to life?

How'd they do it?

Those effects were unreal!

Did it really have an anti-emo/punk/goth sentiment?

Who came up with that stuff?

Where can I get the soundtrack?

Whats it like if you're using mind altering substances while watching it?

Is this a new generation's Alice in Wonderland?

Wii Can Do it

Introducing, Wii
Video

It's not the Nintendo Revolution anymore. It's Wii. Not even Nintendo Wii. Just Wii.

I'm not sure if I like it or if I don't. Wii. I'm going to buy a Wii. That sounds funny.

The guy does make a good point, though. Napster, Prius, those things have no meaning.

Doesn't matter, ultimately, I suppose. The games are gonna be the same whether it's called the Revolution, Wii, Nintendo Awesome Thing, whatever.

Get me this for Christmas, Santa!

Tetris timer clock thing!

1 year anniversary as of 9 days ago

I forgot to mention when it happened. 9 days ago was my 1 year anniversary of this blog. It started off being a picture thing, some journal-type posts. It then evolved to a World of Warcraft story thing. Now it's a news-opinion-journal page.

Don't miss my other post from today:

Save the Internet

It is SOOOO important! Way more important than a 1 year anniversary.

JUST IN: Democrats lose House vote on Net neutrality!

By a 22-to-34 vote, members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee rejected a Democratic backed Net neutrality amendment that also enjoyed support from Internet and software companies including Microsoft, Amazon.com and Google.

THIS SUCKS HARDCORE!

Basically, the bill that was being looked at here was going to prevent ISPs from giving preferential treatment to companies that pay more, i.e. if Google or some other content provider (like the school) wants their content to be delivered at a high speed, they have to pay their ISP more money.

That is BAD! Everyone should be on a level playing field. I've had it up to here with companies trying to force me to do things, only let me do certain things, or limit my freedoms. DRM, Fair Use, and now this. I can't believe it!

Guys we NEED to support the EFF (www.eff.org), ipac (www.ipaction.org), and the Save The Internet Foundation (www.savetheinternet.com). I don't care what your political leanings are; this is not a Republican VS Democrat thing. This is big business working against the consumer.

If you don't think it's a big deal, check out this site:
http://www.savetheinternet.com/=threat

That's just a taste of what we can expect if this stuff gets through.

The time to act is NOW. This isn't democracy, this is big business-ocracy.

Square Enix Meets the Globe Theatre - Kotaku

Square Enix Romeo and Juliet

From Kotaku:

"Reader “addicted2cosplay” sends in this photo of the poster for the UMass Amherst production of Romeo and Juliet, which should be familiar to fans and even casual players of the Final Fantasy series. The shows appear to be sold out, but I hear the production is mostly repetitive fight scenes interspersed with brief but really nice-looking cut scenes."

CBS discovers "leetspeak", not 1337, but a few acronyms

*Watch the video Watch the video Watch the video*

Apparently if your 12 year old daughter uses "leetspeak" on the internet, she can only be having a "steamy affair" with some old guy. And by "leetspeak", they mean things like TDTM "Talk Dirty To Me", NIFOC "Naked In Front Of Computer", and GYOP "Get Your Pants Off".

Perhaps they should have done a quick google search before doing this story.

I beleive the word they were looking for was "acronyms" not "leetspeak".

Movie reviews round two

Memoirs of a Geisha
Fantastic cinematography. Beautiful set design. Some deviations from the book; not as bad as it could have been, however. Somewhat long, and it feels like it about two thirds through. The pretty pictures make up for that, though.

Brokeback Mountain
Yes, well, it's gay. Don't understand why it was nominated for cinematography; it did it's job, nothing special. Heath Ledger plays a really quiet guy; did a good job there with his face and mannerisms. There's more graphic heterosexual sex (a couple of minutes) than homosexual sex (forty five seconds). I guess I really didn't feel a bond to the characters plight; they're able to get away with each other once every couple of months but the conflict is based around how their lives "get in the way" of their relationship. It wasn't strong enough to be moving. Where it was moving was when Jake Gyllenhal's character dies "drowning in his own blood" (read: killed because people found out that he was "queer") and Heath Ledger's character finds out and the denouement of the film begins. It was okay at best; I think the extreme subject matter was what nominated it for so much.

Movie Review Time

Time for some speed movie reviews.

Pride and Prejudice
Keira Knightley is hot. Story is good. I should read the book. Mr. Darcy reminded me of Gareth. A little bit. Up until the point where he confessed his love for Elizabeth. Then he wasn't like Gareth any more.
Good photography. Donald Sutherland steals the show as Mr. Bennet.

The Weather Man
Not for kids. Nicolas Cage's best acting yet. Archery is sweet. Archery is sweet when Nicolas Cage is aiming at the guy engaged to his ex-wife. The concept of a Spritz Nipper feels so contrived that I'm surprised a real news channel hasn't taken the concept and run with it. Funny movie. Dark movie. Pedophile was creepy; liked it when Nicolas Cage beat him up. Michael Caine is awesome.

Next reviews coming up will be for:
Memoirs of a Geisha
Brokeback Mountain
Goodnight and Good Luck

Missing Link of Evolution Found; Intelligent Design Be Damned

Scientists have made one of the most important fossil finds in history: a missing link between fish and land animals, showing how creatures first walked out of the water and on to dry land. As such, it will be a blow to proponents of intelligent design.

So, how does this actually prove anything?

I can't figure out how animals can make sudden changes. Why don't you see an animal between this animal and the one supposedly below it? And then between those? And then between those, ad infinitum. It doesn't make sense. At what point do you say "This is a new species."? With breeds of dogs, you can't say "this isn't a dog because it is smaller than this breed" So how can you do the same with these fish things?

Animals can't suddenly decide "I need a horn on my head." They can't change themselves at all. Even if they could, in order to pass that trait on, they'd need to find another animal that has the same type of change, else it won't be passed on. So how's it supposed to work?
