JUST IN: Democrats lose House vote on Net neutrality!
By a 22-to-34 vote, members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee rejected a Democratic backed Net neutrality amendment that also enjoyed support from Internet and software companies including Microsoft, Amazon.com and Google.
THIS SUCKS HARDCORE!
Basically, the bill that was being looked at here was going to prevent ISPs from giving preferential treatment to companies that pay more, i.e. if Google or some other content provider (like the school) wants their content to be delivered at a high speed, they have to pay their ISP more money.
That is BAD! Everyone should be on a level playing field. I've had it up to here with companies trying to force me to do things, only let me do certain things, or limit my freedoms. DRM, Fair Use, and now this. I can't believe it!
Guys we NEED to support the EFF (www.eff.org), ipac (www.ipaction.org), and the Save The Internet Foundation (www.savetheinternet.com). I don't care what your political leanings are; this is not a Republican VS Democrat thing. This is big business working against the consumer.
If you don't think it's a big deal, check out this site:

That's just a taste of what we can expect if this stuff gets through.
The time to act is NOW. This isn't democracy, this is big business-ocracy.
