Cut from Basketball
Just got the call from Coach Smithson that I'm not on the basketball team and don't need to come to any more tryouts.
Thank God!
I won't have to feel pain every time I move, anymore.
I'll try again next year, maybe there'll be fewer people and I'll have a better chance.

Oh... Never mind.
I'm glad you put in a good effort to try out for the team! If only you would have tried out last year when we didn't have many trying out -- you may have made the team over someone else who DID make the team (who I will leave unnamed), and you would have picked up many new basketball skills.
FYI: if you gradually try to get into better basketball shape, it doesn't hurt as much (if at all) after practice. The best way to do this is playing semi-regularly.
I hope you can start playing around at lunch or with the intramural teams when they start. It would be a great way to get exercise, and it's only for 30 minutes -- not 2 hours (so you shouldn't come home in pain). It would also be a great way to prepare for next years' try-outs.
